Tesla Insists Firing of 400 – 700 Workers Result of “Annual Review”

Once again, hundreds of people last week including engineers, a supervisor, administration and factory workers are let go without warning. Management at Fremont’s Tesla Motors auto plant have insisted these are not lay-offs, but rather the result of a company-wide annual review, so they were not required to report it to EDD. Tesla has long been accused of union-busting, which it denies. However, many of those who were fired were openly pro-union. They believe they were targeted. Tesla has faced ongoing discontent from some factory workers who have complained about working conditions and wages below the auto industry average. Capitalism hits workers hard but leaves the luxury car business in the driver’s seat.
