For the state to survive as a political entity requires a dynamic relationship between produced resources which is divided between workers, and the state apparatus. At the same time the state has to deal with capitalists and other states.
“The model provides a general framework for making and evaluating state decisions. It also provides predictions for circumstances that lead to state failure.” This is a very deeply researched article which states the very conditions for the fall or stabilization of states. The bibliography alone is worth the price of admission!
