While Apple presents itself as a socially responsible company and is building a utopian, dream-come-true campus for its Silicon Valley employees, the story is far different in China, where iPhones are produced by a contractor, Foxxcon. There, employees live and work in cramped, factory-like conditions and are regularly bullied and mistreated by bosses, driving many of them to suicide. This is the end result of capitalism run rampant – and no amount of reform or legislative oversight is able to curb it.
