When the Soviet Union fell in 1989 we heard that history was over and capitalism had won. As we know know now, that celebration was slightly premature, to say the least. What capitalist apologists failed to notice is that a new crop of economists has been studying Marxist crisis theory all the way back to the 70’s. People like Robert Brenner, Richard Wolff, David Harvey were not scholastic justifiers of Marx. They argued with and learned from each other. More recently Michael Roberts, Michael Perelman, Anwar Shaikh and Andrew Kliman continue to develop Marx’s theory to the contemporary capitalist crisis.
