“Political corruption” is a term commonly used to describe state politics. But in fighting this corruption, do you start and the top of the political hierarchy or the bottom? The Indian state has decided the best place to start with is the poor, by insisting that a cashless economy will resolve black markets. It is the poor who will pay and are already starting to pay the cost of this policy. Who will gain? The private companies who monitor the transactions.
