We do not agree with this analysis in this article, but we posted it because it is well thought out. We don’t agree with the prospect that people should only topple statues that are connected to the civil war. We agree that the focus should remain with Black Lives Matter because of the recent uprising. However, there are many other things people are angry about and when they express themselves politically, attacking the “founding fathers monuments “, this should not be discouraged.
What this article completely misses is the propaganda power of these monuments of the founding fathers, as if they were gods or patron saints who are untouchable. Dismantling these statues makes craters in the social fabric that we think is necessary in these times.
