Coal mining may be the most dangerous and debilitating industry in the United States. Trump carried the mining states of West Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Ohio. The funding for health benefits, which the miners have contributed to, will soon run out since the coal companies have declared bankruptcy. To date, Trump has done nothing to block the ending of these benefits for miners – which is ironically scheduled to take place on May Day. Nor has he done anything to block the ending of their pensions by the end of the year.
