On the surface, HG Wells seems like an amicable fellow. He was a member of the Fabian Society and as a futurist, many of his predictions came true. But it may come as a surprise to many that Wells headed the British War Propaganda Bureau for 20 years. His vision for the future was not one of abundance, technological innovative, and workers’ self-management. Influenced by Thomas Huxley and Malthus he wanted to curb population and control the working class.
