It is tempting to hold up Germany as one of the few European economies where workers are doing well. While this may be true compared to the rest of Europe, with the possible exception of the Scandinavian countries, German workers are losing ground. The number of people working longer hours and working on weekends is on the rise. The number of workers 65 or older with a “mini-job” has doubled since 2010.
