Capitalists typically try to hide the decline in the standard of living by announcing that unemployment rates are low. But they ignore the wages received by those still working. This article summarizes research that was done on the European working class between 2004 and 2014. It found a great rise in the numbers of working poor with a high of 18.6%. Even Germany, the strongest capitalist country in Europe, has 9.6% of its workforce categorized as poor. This doesn’t even count the number of people who are living in poverty but are not working.
