Part of the demands of Black Lives Matter (BLM) early on was to push the police commissioners to resign and demand the prosecution of the cops involved in the killing of blacks. But recently with BLM taking on police unions and starting a movement to defund the police, they are challenging the whole structure of the police as an institution. They also have introduced specific proposals for what could be done with the resulting left-over funds. The broader Left movement has to find ways to become much more deeply involved in BLM to give them even greater strength.
