This is a very good overview with Richard Wolff about why BRICS is so important. It is not because these countries are socialist or aspiring to be socialist. It is because they are committed to developing the productive forces.
Marx championed this in his celebration of capitalism as it arose out of feudalism. Economically, BRICS is now more powerful than the G7. It is far more united politically than the West which is completely isolated. Its military strength is greater than the United States which is a generation behind in the production of military weapons.
