For all that its citizens like to imagine they live in a democracy, in Yankeedom there isn’t any political force that remotely approaches the commune movement in Venezuela. While these communes expressed solidarity with the Maduro government, they are clearly unhappy with the current distribution of land rights and the quality of public services. They claim that Maduro has spent more time talking to bankers than he has spent with them.
