Michael Roberts on the Fall and Rise of Labor Since Neoliberalism

For the last 40 years, since the rise of Neoliberalism, the labor movement has taken a beating from the share of national profits to the steepness of methods of exploitation to trade union decline.

But the COVID pandemic was a watershed in changing the balance of power between labor and capital. The last year has seen a rise in labor union militancy, the spreading of unions to new industries and increasing strike waves. Both the fall and rise of labor is similar in Sri Lanka, South Africa and Egypt.
