John Bellamy Foster: Capitalism as an Epoch in Geological Time

For most of us, whether we are conservative or socialist, we tend to think of the history of human social organization as separate from bio-physical evolution. But given how much capitalism has changed bio-physical nature on this planet, socially oriented geologists ought to be thinking of the capitalist-industrial age as a geological epoch.
