This article is an example of what we think should come out of something we started years ago, called “Socialist Planning Circles”. It is a very imaginative yet practical scenario in how to match up elderly people with extra room in their homes with younger people looking for affordable housing. The proposal includes involving union locals and religious organizations. It would be organized cooperatively, involve trained mediators to help with conflict. It would eliminate the need for real estate agents.
