How Did Africa Get So Poor? British Colonial Ambitions in Africa

Unfortunately, many people think that each political state independently charts its own course and its relationship with other countries is strictly voluntary. However, since the 1970’s, dependency theory and world-systems theory have pointed out that the wealth of some countries is dependent on the exploitation of other countries who are coerced.
