France’s Macron as an Authoritarian Liberal

Since the 1960’s the world liberalism meant FDR liberalism with state intervention to curb capitalism.

When that didn’t work out we’ve had a centrist neoliberalism which attempted to re-privatize the “matriarchal” state. But as capitalism loses its legitimacy and there are rumblings of rebellion in the U.S., liberalism in France is becoming more right wing. Macron’s continued “state of emergency” and his “heroic” interventions into the slave trade are just two examples.
