This book is about the class war within Marxism between academics who trash actually existing socialism for theory with no practice. They are academics who are allergic to taking power and who moralistically sneer at those who do.
These folks do not try to organize workers but are full of advice for those who try. For one reason or another, third world revolutions are not good enough and by default support imperialism. The author traces its history to the failure of the 2nd International just before World War I.
