What are the typical reasons why someone, even if they live in a cooperative community, wouldn’t ask for help if they needed it? Perhaps they don’t want to feel like they are a burden. Maybe they are afraid they can’t reciprocate in kind. Maybe the need is too personal to ask for publicly. The author of this article has developed a concept called “support teams” for overcoming these obstacles. His suggestions are well elaborated, down-to-earth and reflect a wisdom that has come from 41 years of living in intentional communities.
