Chinese Capitalism: Children Pay the Price

In China many working class parents have left their children while they seek work in the cities. Currently grandparents are taking care of the children. While we have capitalism to thank for these unfortunate conditions, we are also struck by acceptance of this condition among the children. One 13 year old says “It would be selfish of me to expect them to be here”. Additionally, the contrast is striking between these children and middle and upper middle class children in the U.S. for whom nothing their parents do is ever enough.
